Who is Saffas- Helping Hand?

Helping Hand is a community organisation that strives to alleviate poverty among vulnerable persons and to help people break free from poverty. Without the support of the community, Helping Hand would not be able to do this work.

Helping Hand’s focus is:

• to prevent poverty by assisting schools in various ways, by teaching children to be self-reliant as early as kindergarten, and to contribute in different school phases;
• to end poverty by assisting young people with advice such as psychometric testing and projects that help them to make sound, well-informed decisions about their future; and
• to alleviate poverty by supporting vulnerable members of the community in their times of need, for instance children, the elderly and the poor.

How we use your money

For every rand we receive, 75 cents is used for projects and the remainder goes towards covering overhead expenses necessary to deploy successful projects.

Helping Hand is dedicated to tackling poverty among Afrikaners. We believe in poverty alleviation, prevention and eradication. Alleviation: Through the Grandpa and Grandma Project, branches and assistance to vulnerable persons. Prevention: Through training, study loans, the Support Centre for Schools, the Empower a Child Project, the Schoolbag Project, the Lunchbox Project and the Teaching Assistant Project. Eradication: Through permanent job creation, entrepreneur actions and Werknet.
